Where to Go in Panama – Enjoying Panama Coasts at Any Budget

We have picked out the top 4 favorites which for sure will be worth your time:

1. Red Frog Beach (Bocas del Toro)

If you are looking for the most wanted Caribbean destination in Panama, Bocas del Toro is it. It is an archipelago, but because of its proximity to land, the destination attracts a significant number of tourists as well as a big expat community. Throughout Bocas lie dozens of beaches, but Red Frog Beach seems to be the most outstanding one. It has a selective few fantastic hostels and hotels within a walk from shore and boasts a great diverse food/party scene. Red Frog Beach is where you go for fun in the sun and an authentic experience of Caribbean Panamanian culture. It's a quiet and relaxing place to live, check it out the properties around.

2. Playa Larga (Pearl Islands)

Like Bocas del Toro, it is also an archipelago and located south of the Bay of Panama in the Pacific Ocean. These islands have been well known by Panamanians forever, but its popularity recently surged internationally for hosting several Survivor reality TV shows. The main island is called Contadora and boasts one of the most untouched, white sand beaches in Panama. To get to Contadora, take a short flight (about 20 minutes) from the city, or a ferry from either the Balboa Yatch Club or the Trump Ocean Club. This beach is remote, so it would be perfect for you if you want some quiet, private time on the white sand. However, if you plan on a day trip in Playa Larga, prepare to go early and return around 4-5pm.

3. Playa Blanca (Farallon)

If Bocas del Toro is the capital of Caribbean Panamanian culture, Playa Blanca is the beach resort capital of the country. This is in no way a low-key beach area, as it has plenty of development. You are surely going to be spoilt here, surrounded by all-inclusive resorts, budget resorts, beach clubs, beach properties and even the little town of Farallon for a break from it all. There is even a charter-only airport in the neighbor town for resort-specific flights from North America.

4. Playa Serena (Gorgona)

Not far from Farallon on the Pacific side of Panama, Gorgona is just an easy drive from the city. This is a quiet beach town right that is right next door to Coronado, with the same type of beach, but it is public (Coronado is private). From Coronado, you can get there in more or less an hour, park easily, and enjoy the sun, breezes, and waves within minutes of getting out of the car. Don't worry, refreshment is not so far from that either as you can grab a burger and a drink at the Tiki bar, which is located right on Playa Serena Beach.
