Where to Shop in Bogota, Colombia

To assist your shopping spree, take a look at this primer of the main shopping areas and malls in Bogota and their offers.

North

Usaquen, the district at the north end of the city, houses a wide variety of shopping options. Shopping centers such as Unicentro, the first large shopping center in Bogotá, opened in 1976. Unicentro has more than 300 stores, a cinema and several dining options to offer.

If you prefer a shopping experience outside the mall, but close to the convenience of all the nearby shops, walk to the Hacienda de Santa Bárbara. The building is a 19th century farm that was transformed into a shopping center. It has a well of famous brands with numerous unique boutique shops.

Traveling to the north from Unicentro and Hacienda de Santa Bárbara is the Santa Fe Shopping Center. Opened in 2006, it is one of the largest shopping centers in Bogotá. Santa Fé has more than 420 stores and, according to reports, plans a large expansion

Usaquén is famous for its Sunday Flea Market, which is definitely worth a visit where you find yourself surrounded by one-off handicrafts and accessories. If you want to indulge in local art, leather goods, and artisanal jewelry and crafts, you cannot not visit this place. Usaquén's Flea Market gives a village-like atmosphere, which makes it feel like a getaway from the city. Perfect for a laid-back Sunday, isn't it?

Zona Rosa and Zona T

Located in Zona Rosa, Centro Andino is a popular and sophisticated shopping mall. The mall opened in 1995 and offers both international and national brands, jewelry, clothing, and leather goods. The large four-story shopping mall was one of the seeds for development in the Zona Rosa area, which set the transformation of the neighborhood into an upbeat commercial destination.

As we explore more options in Bogota's shopping scene in the area, head to Atlantis Plaza and Centro Comercial El Retiro. Known as the city's premier shopping mall, El Retiro is the larger of the two, with three floors packed with shopping choices. It has the capacity to satisfy even the most discriminating shopper. Once you've worked up an appetite, the mall also has a food court that can cater to all tastes.

Note that vehicles are not allowed in Zona T as it is a pedestrian area that consists of two streets crossing in a T shape.

City Center

At the San Alejo Flea Market, there are treasures every Sunday. You will find antiques, handcrafted products from all over Colombia, vintage clothing and even delicious samples of some Colombian delicacies.

If you are looking for jewelry, the area around Streets 11 and 14 and Races 6 and 7 is filled with jewelries, one after the other. This is also where you can buy emeralds, one of the biggest exports of Colombia, which make for a wonderful souvenir of your trip or a special gift for a loved one.

West

West of Usaquén and Chapinero there are more large shopping malls, including Centro Comercial Titán Plaza located in Engativá and Centro Comercial Gran Estación in Teusaquillo. Titán Plaza is the newest large mall in Bogota, which opened in 2012. The deals in these malls are very attractive, as they have somewhat lower prices than those in Zona Rosa.

South

Centro Mayor, is located in the southern locality of Antonio Nariño, with over 400 shops. Most foreigners, however, find that variety is limited here in comparison with that in many other malls located in the Northern, Western, or Zona Rosa areas of Bogota.
